Joel is Managing Director of Novum and a Registered Architect with over 15 years’ experience in architecture. Joel’s aptitude for design and client-facing roles has seen him lead teams on large, small, and complex projects in the education, aged care, seniors living, church, commercial and community sectors.
Joel is a firm believer in an enthusiastic, holistic, and ‘first principles’ approach to architecture and is known for his collaborative and energetic contribution to the design process. His role as Managing Director enables him to build positive, enduring relationships with our clients, maintain a hands-on approach to our projects, and act as a mentor to the entire Novum team.
Since 2017, Joel has been integral in establishing Novum and our client-centric delivery of service. Novum’s approach is to streamline and de-clutter the client experience in order to quickly and meaningfully come to terms with our clients needs and deliver exceptional architecture, and Joel’s charismatic yet considered nature drives this process.
Prior to joining Novum, Joel led a wide range of projects from concept design stage through to completion and handover and was instrumental in establishing Bickerton Masters’ Sydney Office. During that time, he worked with several industry-leading clients throughout Queensland and New South Wales including Adventist Aged Care, Anglicare Southern Queensland, Brisbane Catholic Education, Living Faith Lutheran Primary School, Mater Health Services, Mt St Michael’s College, Scalabrini Village, Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT, and Twilight Aged Care.
Joel has a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Design (graduated with Honours) both from Queensland University of Technology. He is a Registered Architect in Queensland (BOAQ) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA).
